Sinopsys

· Up in The Air is a fictional short film about Miguel a young BMX athlete whom after getting recovered from an important accident wants to prove to everyone but most important himself that he is the best. However, when race day arrives the pressure is so crushing and the doubt so big that he decides to run away. The time stops just before the gate opens and he start to ride around old memories in the look for answers to who he is and what really matters.

· Up in the Air is a glance to the athlete as a person, them feelings, them day to day and what affects them for good and bad. An Athlete does not exist only in the competition. That is what this project is about.

Impact.

· Studies al across the world says that “The mental health level of elite athletes is closely related to the degree of sports fatigue, and the correlation coefficients between most factors have reached a significant level.” Failure, frustration, fatigue are situations that athletes face on daily bases.

· As storytellers we have the responsibility of bringing these subjects to day light. Mental health, acceptance and management of expectations and uplifting people to avoid ironmen end up broken.

Who we are?

·      We are Diego Fonseca Cubillos, writer and director and Daniel Jiménez Paz Producer. We are filmmaking students of the National University of Colombia, one of the best filmmaking schools in the country that have had big Colombian cinema personalities such as Rubén Mendoza, Ciro Guerra among others. We have also been elite athletes in different disciplines (BMX and Karate).

· Diego was BMX racer for about 12 years. Throughout this time he lived life changing experiences around the track, his bicycle and the people that he had the chance to meet. He competed national and international level until the 2017 USA world championship but sadly due to an injury on his back he had to retire from competing, even tho his passion was never gone. This path along with an major investigation had been the foundation to write this script.

· this project has been advised for more than a whole year both inside and outside the academic field. We have been part of executive production seminars given by the BIFF (Bogota International Film Festival) where the project was very well received and we are ready to carry it out.

What we need & what you can give us

· Our main ally, the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, is providing technical equipment, guidance and media, however, we need to cover expenses for: locations, actors, catering, transportation, production design, wardrobe, visual effects, camera equipment, among others.

· Our Budget are 25’000.000 COP (6.250 USD) but we need 12’600.000 COP (3.150 USD) in order to begin production. That is why we need your help!

· The main steps of this project are:

· The short film will be shot in February 2022.

· Postproduction from march to april 2022.

· The shortfilm will be available on may 2022.

Distribution Plan

· The distribution of a short film begins with the festival circuit. This wayt a film like this can become known, reach its audience and finally be acquired by distribution companies. In our budget we include the inscriptions and expenses to be able to participate in several festivals.

· We have "Gate Magazine" to launch our short film through its youtube platform, which is recognized for its content in the sport of bicicross nationwide with a significant number of followers.

Our Challenge

· One of the main doubts backing film projects is: What happen if the campaign does not make the it to the goal? Is the project still going to be realized?

· The answer is yes. The project will still be carried out and all the money raised will go towards its realization. This project has an important academic component to which we have dedicated the necessary time to achieve an excellent film product. Our work group, our co-producers, sponsors and the support of the National University make us responsible for bringing this short film to fruition no matter what. Our Backers can rest assured.
